Product strategy · Connected experiences · Regulated platforms

I turn complex systems into products people can trust.

I’m David Ferguson, a product strategist and technical product manager building connected experiences in complex, regulated environments. My experience spans automotive, MedTech, financial services, telecommunications, industrial, and commercial real estate.

Selected work

Across industries, I make complex products coherent and executable.

Selected client work delivered through IBM Consulting and Dialexa, often in partnership with BCG.

01Automotive & mobility

Building connected mobility products that survive the real world.

Led test automation and release readiness across critical product flows while helping the team navigate a major business-model pivot and launch Flexdrive’s multi-tenant vehicle-subscription platform.

OutcomeThe platform later scaled to 25,000+ subscribers and 100,000 monthly transactions across 23 U.S. cities and four countries.

02Connected health

Connecting the patient journey across complex health systems.

Guided product strategy and delivery across Intermountain MyHealth+, Dexcom’s next-generation CGM ecosystem, and Ascension’s Digital Front Door, spanning telehealth and patient communications, cloud services, connected applications, and platform architecture.

OutcomeHelped launch MyHealth+, which reached approximately 400,000 users in its first year. The work across Dexcom helped shape the cloud and application foundation behind today’s G7 experience.

  • Regulated delivery
03Enterprise & industrial

Turning an overloaded enterprise backlog into a platform teams could ship.

Led product definition for a greenfield CPQ platform spanning configuration, pricing, quoting, ordering, identity, data, and enterprise integrations. Replaced hundreds of competing backlog items with an executable release structure.

OutcomeEstablished release governance through QA and UAT, helped the team reach two releases per week, and advanced the platform toward pilot readiness.

04Financial services

Making strategy, investment, and delivery risk visible.

Led portfolio strategy across five USAA products and delivery readiness for PNC’s small-business banking modernization, connecting long-range investment priorities to executable product plans.

OutcomeAligned five USAA product leaders around a shared investment narrative. Surfaced 46 delivery gaps across 27 PNC epics and more than 1,100 stories.

Product thinking

Good products respect the whole human context.

I’m drawn to products that can remove uncertainty, preserve connection, or make complex systems more understandable. These independent perspectives begin with real products and experiences I’ve encountered, then explore where they could go next.

Concept direction · Connected vehicle

Vehicle ownership is a brand experience. It begins before the keys change hands.

The ownership experience does not stop when the driver leaves the cabin. I see an opportunity to connect vehicle status, remote actions, service, trip context, and ownership support into a calmer, more reliable relationship. From discovery and purchase through everyday ownership and dealer support, every interaction should carry the same care as the vehicle itself.

  • One continuous journey from discovery through ownership
  • Connected services that build confidence every day
  • Dealer and brand support that remembers the relationship
Independent product perspective.

Concept direction · Memory & care

ArtKive’s core idea can grow from childhood archives into lifelong memory books.

Families also need thoughtful ways to preserve stories for aging parents and loved ones experiencing memory loss. The product could become a collaborative, consent-centered space for photos, voice, art, places, and prompts.

  • Family-contributed story threads
  • Accessible prompts and reminiscence modes
  • Print objects designed for care settings

Product principle · Healthcare interoperability

Interoperability matters most when people have the least capacity to fight for it.

As health needs become more complex, so do the records, providers, permissions, and decisions surrounding them. Patients and caregivers should not have to become expert system navigators just to maintain continuity of care. The right information and access should move with the person quietly, securely, and reliably so families can stay focused on treatment, everyday responsibilities, and quality of life.

  • Records and permissions that follow the person
  • Secure, understandable access for trusted caregivers
  • One connected journey from finding care to managing long-term needs
The administrative burden should recede into the background, not become another hurdle to care.

How I work

“Make strategy executable. Leave the team stronger than you found it.”
01

Create clarity before velocity

Align teams around the user, desired outcomes, constraints, and decisions before delivery momentum obscures what matters.

02

Make strategy executable

Translate vision and investment intent into roadmaps, architecture-aware plans, and increments teams can build, test, and learn from.

03

Work across every boundary

Keep business, design, engineering, data, operations, and compliance aligned without losing meaning between them.

04

Build quality into the product

Treat reliability, traceability, compliance, and operational risk as part of the experience from the beginning, while establishing practices the team can sustain.

About David

Strategy, technical fluency, and a quality engineer’s instinct for what can go wrong.

I have spent my career in the space between an ambitious idea and the systems, teams, and decisions required to make it real. At IBM Consulting and Dialexa, I’ve led product strategy and delivery across automotive, MedTech, telecommunications, financial services, industrial, and commercial real estate.

My foundation in electronic trading, brokerage operations, regulatory reporting, clearing, and quality engineering taught me that reliability, interpretability, and operational detail are not constraints on a good experience. They are part of the product.

I’m looking for a senior product opportunity where connected experiences matter. I’m especially interested in connected vehicle experiences and companion apps, patient and provider platforms, EHR and telehealth integrations, and large-scale consumer ecosystems.
